Many of the more experienced orienteers are going abroad to find the multi day events in the sun, but SYO had a massively successful weekend at the Cliffhanger festival in Millhouses Park last weekend. Hundreds and hundreds of kids, and in most cases their parents too, tried the sport. (There were even a few DVO members there!)

As a result South Yorkshire Orienteers is organising a series of events especially for beginners and novices.

* Saturday July 26th (morning) - at Weston Park
* Thursday August 7th (2pm to 5pm) - at Endcliffe Park
* Saturday September 27th (morning) - venue TBA

If you'd like to come along, or just to find out more, please send an email to
website@southyorkshireorienteers.org.uk or visit the SYO website

We are saddened to hear today of the death of John Armstrong this week.
John was an very active member of the club and he will be sorely missed.
He was also an international bridge player and an obituary can be found on the English Bridge Union websites.

Our sympathies go out to John's family.

A host of DVO juniors were in the East Midlands team that finished 4th at the Juniors Inter Regional Championships; one of their best ever finishes.
