It's good for individuals as well as families with small children.

Our members will be pleased to guide you at your first few events. If you are unsure about what orienteering is, the British Orienteering Federation have
an excellent web page which explains itl.

Derwent Valley Orienteers (DVO) are the orienteering club for Derbyshire, excluding the High Peak. We hold events regularly within the county,
normally at least 6 or 7 open events a year, 1 major "badge" event, 2 or 3
night events, and a number of informal club member only events, normally
on summer evenings. We also have a regular Wednesday evening training
run throughout the year and hold a number of social events.
Most orienteers join their local clubs asit is the best way of making sure
you get information on all your local fixtures.

There are two levels of Membership within British Orienteering; Local

British Orienteering Membership (LBM) and National British Orienteering
Membership (NBM).

To determine which level of membership you require you need to consider, how far you travel to compete, the type of competitions you want to take part in and how frequently you orienteer.

Any orienteer that competes in more than three events will begin to save money by joining British Orienteering, as members receive a discounted entry at events.

Which events you receive a discount at will be determined by your level of membership and your club's location. You can choose to join British Orienteering as a senior (21 or over), junior (20 or under), or as a family group.
